People, groups and businesses are busy right now creating “masterpieces” from recycled wooden pallets… artwork, cubby houses, furniture… the possibilities are only limited by imagination! Mens Sheds, schools and even master cabinet makers are hammering away......
On the 23rd August, the masterpieces will be auctioned at a fundraising event at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal
About The Power of Pallets: The Power of Pallets is a not for profit organisation that is aiming to help solve the problem of the amount of wooden pallets that are sent to land fill in Australia. The aim is to upcycle the timber pallets into useful items for local charities and organisations.
The number of pallets out there is truly staggering. Approximately 140,000 tonnes of wood pallets and crates is sent to landfill in Sydney alone each year. It is a fact that roughly half of the pallets are intended to be used only once. Others may be full of difficult-to-remove nails, and also end up in landfill.
The Power of Pallets is an event that helps solves this problem. We are going to ‘up cycle’ the timber pallets into useful items that can be auctioned off and the proceeds will go towards the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation.
