Dr Bruce Ward is Chief Technology Officer of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation. His talk will detail the development of the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR), which is a world class technology and considered the most effective and cost effective surveillance capability in the world. It currently forms the backbone of the Australian Air Surveillance System together with the E7 Airborne Early Warning Aircraft and ground based microwave radars. This is a particularly topical subject with the recent disappearance of a civilian passenger aircraft and the associated search for tracking information.
