The 2016 Festival of Architecture and Cairns Open House is on again from 5-9 October.
The 2016 Festival of Architecture and Cairns Open House is on again.
Open House is a high profile annual cultural event that raises awareness of the value of good design in cities across the world.
The very popular free public walk is on Sunday 9th October through parts of the CBD. This year’s theme is “Cairns Public Places – The Design Stories”. The walk includes new sites around the CBD, and will be followed by a bus tour of local award winning buildings including The Artillery Museum and The Tobruk Pool. The Design Story behind each building will be explained by the lead architect on each project. There is a group lunch being organised at $20 per person which includes food and one drink. This will take place between the walking tour and the bus tour.
The Festival of Architecture has been supported in 2016 by Department of Environment and Heritage, Cairns Regional Council, Gilboy Hydraulic Solutions, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, LA3 and Planz Town Planning.
Places for the walking tour, lunch and bus tour are limited to 40 people and bookings can be made by emailing email/cairnsopenhouse)(gmail.com.
