Do you have a sustainable home? … Help support Sustainable House Day 2017
Cairns Regional Council is helping to promote National Sustainable House Day (SHD) which is an initiative of the Alternative Technology Association (ATA), showcasing sustainable homes to the public. The event will be held on:
Sunday 17 September
Council is keen to promote and educate the public on sustainable housing solutions which can benefit not only the home owner but also the community. This could include features such as passive design, energy efficient lighting and appliances, waste management, recycled materials, solar, tiny home solutions or external landscape ideas and sustainable gardens.
We would greatly appreciate your assistance, in promoting the event, initially in finding sustainable homes to register for the SHD web site. You may have a project that you have completed or know someone who is willing to share their sustainable home or ideas with others.
To register, homes must have at least four sustainable features and be able to open to the public from 10am-4pm on Sunday 17 September. We can help provide people to host the houses if required. Any assistance you can provide in getting the word out would be greatly appreciated. We need homes to register as soon as possible so that Council can assist in promoting the event.
