Conversion of a rural holiday home into a stunning contemporary home with plenty of room for a large family. The design blurs the line from indoor to outdoor as the family enjoy the magnificant rainforest in the foothills of the tallest mountains in Queensland, the big rivers and rich farming land.
The focal point of the home is the spacious resort like central outdoor living area. The prominent fly over roof is lined with a rich warm australian hoop pine marine grade plywood.
The west wing is the renovated existing home, redesigned to be the children’s retreat. The new east wing is complimentary in its symmetry and houses a large kitchen and pantry, master bedroom and ensuite. The central utilities hub, to the rear of the central outdoor area, is perfectly positioned for ease of access by a large busy family.
The new structure is engineered to be a safe haven cyclone bunker in this tropical environment. This resiliant building is cladd in vertical Colorbond Monument metal sheeting and the central utilities hub is cladd in horizontal Bluegum metal sheet to create contrast.
